Stainless Steel Sinks are easy to clean and maintain. In order to keep its lustrous finish looking its best, proper care and cleaning are important. For day to day cleaning, we recommend cleaning with a mild dish washing detergent and a soft sponge or fiber brush. Rinse with clear water and wipe dry. However, don’t be afraid to use mild abrasive cleansers for tough stains. For removal of tougher stains, please visit Revere’s web site for more specific cleaning instructions.
While your sink will perform many functions it is not designed to be a cutting board. In addition to dulling your knives, you may scratch your sink. Like most metallic surfaces, stainless steel will scratch. Light scratches can be blended away so they are not as noticeable by cleaning with a mild abrasive cleanser following your sink’s grain lines.
While at Euro Stone Craft we stock and recommend Revere sinks by Elkay, and MSI Stainless Steel sinks, we welcome our clients to purchase and provide their own sink. We precisely measure, cut and polish all undermount sink cut outs, and attach the sinks to granite or other stone countertops.
There are two different methods of undermount sink cut-out and installation. The most popular and standard installation method is cut-out with overhang. The overhang is approximately 1/4″ or less, and helps to hide the unsightly silicon caulk between the sink and the countertop. It is also easier to clean your countertops, and wiping food particles directly into the sink.
The second method is with the reveal. With reveal the sink cut-out is a bit larger and it reveals about 1/2″ of the stainless steel rim. This type of cut-out and installation is not as popular as the food particles get caught on the reveal and making cleaning more time consuming. Also the silicone caulk becomes discolored and unsightly after a while. However, some of the sinks with cutting board accessories, require reveal installation, as the board rests on the rim of the sink. Please make sure you request this method during the template, as it is not our standard cut out for the undermount sink.
